After the lipstick lesbian flag was deemed not inclusive to the lesbian community at large, Tumblr blogger Emily Gwen created a design for a new lesbian flag in 2018. This flag retained the seven stripes from the lipstick flag, but changed the top set to orange shades.
The colors from top to bottom are:
- dark orange for "gender non-conformity"
- orange for "independence"
- light orange for "community"
- white for "unique relationships to womanhood"
- pink for "serenity and peace"
- dusty pink for "love and sex"
- dark rose for "femininity".
Lesbian Visibility Day, on the 26th of April, celebrates, recognizes, and raises the visibility of lesbians. The National Coalition for LGBT Health first organized it.
